Authentic German smokers are a unique gift from Seiffener Volkskunst, one of the finest manufacturers in the Erzgebirge. It is estimated that the production of smoking cones, now used in German Smokers, started around 1750 in the village of Crottendorf in the Erzgebirge. The smoker has two parts. The base holds a small tin circle on which the smoking cone is placed. The upper part of the smoker sets atop the base and works as the smoking kettle.
